An Afternoon of Iconic Paris Architecture by Le Corbusier and Hector Guimard in a Visit to the Auteuil Neighborhood (16e)
A visit to Auteuil offers a visually exhilarating tour of Modernist and Art Nouveau architecture starting with Maison La Roche by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. Maison La Roche is the headquarters of the Fondation Le Corbusier and the apartment is a museum open for tours. Designed by Le Corbusier as a home for Raoul La Roche, a Swiss banker and collector of avant-garde art, Villa La Roche is a good example of Le Corbusier's architecture. Designed in 1923 as a home/art gallery it is wonderful space to experience.
Located in Auteuil, it makes a convenient companion to a tour of a substantial number of examples of Art Nouveau architecture by Hector Guimard and others including the Castel Berlanger (considered Guimard's masterwork), which is 13 minutes walk from Maison La Roche.
