Flying L Ranch
601 Main Street
Saddle Up or Tee OffLocated in central Texas, Flying L has draws for both senior and junior ranch hands. While parents tee off on an 18-hole championship golf course, for example, kids can hunt for arrowheads, take roping lessons, and brand their own hats. Hot summer days are best spent at the pool and Lone Star Lagoon water park; complete with a lazy river and covered wagon slides. At night, guests head to the San Julian Creek—a waterway teeming with bass and perch that runs through the 542-acre property—and pile dinner plates with barbecue, beans, and potato salad. Between helpings, try your hand at archery, or watch the local blacksmith hammer out horseshoes for the ranch’s 40-plus horses.
