The dimly lit interior of the store is a treasure trove of Korean ingredients, packaged and fresh. Banchan, Korean side dishes like seasoned fish cake and vegetables and freshly-made kimchi are displayed prominently behind their glass case, making it hard to choose just a few. The seaweed selection is extensive and there is no shortage of soju.
Not one to have the patience or skill to cook such a meal, I gravitate towards the front counter that has several shelves of freshly prepared dishes. The vegetarian kimbap has my loyality, a colorful array of pickled carrots, daikon and spinach rolled up with rice and seaweed. If I am feeling glutinous I’ll get the japchae (sweet potato noodles) as well.
