The remote Galapagos Islands are unlike anything we've ever seen before. The islands are inhabited by rare birds and animals that are endlessly fascinating. No wonder Charles Darwin formulated his Theory of Evolution here.
The delicate ecosystem means that sustainable tourism is the need of the hour. In keeping with this, we opted for a land-based holiday and chose an eco-friendly hotel away from the hustle-bustle of Santa Cruz Island. Finch Bay is a luxurious ecolodge tucked away into a secluded corner and has won several awards for its conservation efforts. We loved our spacious room and the hammock in our balcony.
But it's the islands we can't get out of our minds. We visited North Seymour Island on Finch Bay's luxurious boat Sea Lion and it was truly the experience of a lifetime. It was one of our favourite experiences on our 2 month long trip in South America. We saw stunning blue-footed boobies by the dozen and gorgeous frigate birds with red gular pouches. At the end of the day, we had to be torn away from the island because we just didn't want to leave. Definitely one for wild-life enthusiasts and bird-watchers!!
