Sampling an Ancient Tea
If you have never heard of Kava Kava, there is no need to travel to Hawaii or Fiji to try it in a social environment. This ancient drink has been used ceremonially for more than 3,000 years to help relieve anxiety and stress. I stumbled upon Fiji Kava Bar by chance two years ago, and have been returning again and again. It is a local hangout, through and through. In fact, the Facebook group calls themselves Fiji Kava Bar Tribe, because you are welcomed like a long-time friend when you enter. The drink offers similar benefits of alcohol and makes you want to chat with others, but there is no hangover or slurred speech. Play board games and musical instruments, listen to reggae jams, or share a hookah. Fire spinners and drummers stop by from time to time and the beach is a few steps away. Round up some patrons and start an impromptu volleyball game in the sand! Anything goes at Fort Lauderdale's kava bars! They are open late!
