There’s always an occasion to celebrate in Norfolk, especially during the fall months. In 2017, for art lovers, NEON Festival (Oct 19–20) is the perfect time to canvas the Norfolk Arts District, also known as the NEON (New Energy of Norfolk) District. Hit the streets and enjoy guided mural tours, live music, and loads of local art. Another can’t-miss creative fête is the Stockley Gardens Art Festival (Oct 21–22). The biannual free outdoor fair attracts more than 50,000 visitors to the historic Ghent neighborhood, where more than 100 artists set up shop to sell their wares, including jewelry, pottery, and paintings. Bonus: Money raised supports the Hope House, a foundation that provides services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The same weekend plays host to the 30th annual Town Point Virginia
Fall Wine Festival, where you can sample Old Dominion vinos from the state’s best producers, like Barboursville Vineyards and Chateau Morrisette, at the Downtown Norfolk Waterfront.
