Fernando's - A Portuguese & Mediterranean Delight
On a recent Saturday evening, my husband and I dined at Fernando's Dockside Grille ( for the third time). It is a classic family run restaurant on a canal of the St. Lucie River in Florida.It has been operating for four years. The owner and chef is Fernando Dovale. Fernando's son, Tiago is the helpful, friendly host. Tiago's step -sister
is a pleasant, professional waitress. Fernando's friend for years, Joao Perreira is a well informed, capable waiter. He and Fernando have worked in the restaurant business in Lisbon, Newark, Long Branch, New Jersey, Massachusetts. and now in Florida.
You feel welcomed and serene at this wonderful restaurant.
The meals are well prepared and tasty. The appetizers and salads are typical and delicious. This past visit, I enjoyed the Cod Aqua Pazza. It was extremely fresh and succulent. My husband had the traditional Pork and Littlenecks (Alentejana). It too was very tasty. These dishes were perfect with a Portuguese wine we chose.
Beer and wine are offered.
The deserts are fresh and you have to try the traditional Nata desert (Pasteis da Nata) - little pastry cups filled with a cream custard. Have an expresso to go with your yummy desert.
I was told that hopefully coming in May this year, Portuguese barbeque will be offered as well. There will be Chicken Piri Piri, meats, and ribs.
