Fermilab - Pilgrimage for science geeks
If you are a science enthusiast, it's hard to find a place that is more inspirational. Fermilab is where researchers study elementary particles, and in doing so they unravel the very fabric of reality. This place will make you think about the most profound questions: what is reality, why are we here, what are we made of and what is the purpose of existence. A truly transformative experience. Fermilab is a one hour drive from Chicago. Come here for the monthly guided tour. We were in a small group with several scientists who are happy to engage in a discussion and try to answer your questions, or simply inspire you to think and question further. Also, the midcentury equipment that is still being used in some labs is beyond beautiful.
