The popular Baltic island resort of Fehmarn is located around 80 kilometers north of Travemünde. Accessed via a handsome suspension bridge, the island is a nature preserve and features several unspoiled beaches, as well as many attractive farms and villages. Although famed for hosting the final concert of the Jimi Hendrix Experience (at the 1970 Open Air Love & Peace Festival), its current attractions tend to be more low-key and include a golf course, a seawater aquarium and a butterfly park.
