The Fairmont Southampton is located on the picturesque south shore of Bermuda. While the resort is self-contained, a number of off-property walks and hikes have spectacular views and are a great way to see the island. For example, the hotel’s private beach is adjacent to Horseshoe Bay Beach, with a number of walking paths that connect the south shore beaches and private coves. It’s a great walk and a nice way to experience miles of pink sand. In addition, the hotel is a short cab ride or complimentary water-ferry ride into the city of Hamilton—making it perfectly situated for a city and resort experience.

Who's it for: Well-heeled couples and families. Our favorite rooms: The two duplex suites are probably the most dramatic rooms (though not the largest). Two-story windows frame views of the south shore and Atlantic Ocean, plus a wraparound balcony beckons guests out for a look. Take a walk: The hotel offers a range of guided walks in the area. Highlights include the Bermuda Railway Trail, which is a great walking/jogging path along the route of the former train line that connected the island in the 1930s. It offers great views. Another lovely walk is over to the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse—the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in the world. A climb to the top offers dramatic views of the island in all directions.
