Bermuda-Style Luxury at the Fairmont Southampton
Surrounded by swaying palm trees, colorful tropical flowers, and the perfection of pink sand and sapphire-soaked water, the 100-acre piece of property known as the Fairmont Southampton is Bermuda’s ultimate luxury destination. Spacious rooms and private balconies look out onto sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Great Sound Harbour, or the lush landscaping of Turtle Hill Golf Club. The health club with personal trainers, sauna and steam rooms, and 15 treatment rooms offering indulgences such as hydrotherapy, body wraps, and sea salt scrubs make Willow Stream Spa the largest and most inclusive spa on the island. A pool, oceanfront beach club, dive center, water sport rentals, kid’s camp, tennis courts, and an 18-hole championship golf course offer plenty to keep guests busy. Or, just grab a drink, situate yourself in a lounge chair, and enjoy the view from the lap of luxury. Eight restaurants, bars, and lounges serve meals ranging from fine dining and romantic rendezvous to breakfast with a view, casual lunches, and late night cocktails. Planning a special anniversary, honeymoon, or proposal? You can dine right on the sand at Bermuda Moon Dance. This ultimate experience involves a five-course dinner for two on a secluded section of the hotel’s private beach. Add-ons include a horse and carriage ride and violin or saxophone serenades.

Neighborhood Vibe
The Fairmont Southampton is located on the picturesque south shore of Bermuda. While the resort is self-contained, a number of off-property walks and hikes have spectacular views and are a great way to see the island. For example, the hotel’s private beach is adjacent to Horseshoe Bay Beach, with a number of walking paths that connect the south shore beaches and private coves. It’s a great walk and a nice way to experience miles of pink sand. In addition, the hotel is a short cab ride or complimentary water-ferry ride into the city of Hamilton—making it perfectly situated for a city and resort experience.

Insider Tips
Who's it for: Well-heeled couples and families.
Our favorite rooms: The two duplex suites are probably the most dramatic rooms (though not the largest). Two-story windows frame views of the south shore and Atlantic Ocean, plus a wraparound balcony beckons guests out for a look.
Take a walk: The hotel offers a range of guided walks in the area. Highlights include the Bermuda Railway Trail, which is a great walking/jogging path along the route of the former train line that connected the island in the 1930s. It offers great views. Another lovely walk is over to the Gibb’s Hill Lighthouse—the tallest cast-iron lighthouse in the world. A climb to the top offers dramatic views of the island in all directions.
Fairmont Southampton
The Fairmont Southampton sits atop the highest point in Bermuda, offering sweeping views of the ocean and whitewashed roofs of Bermuda homes. The resort, which exudes traditional luxury, is located on nearly 100 acres dotted with lush bougainvillea and towering coconut palms. The resort features the Turtle Hill Golf Club, a 2,684-yard golf course that promises to challenge all levels of golfers—complete with choice ocean views.

Boasting the largest guestrooms in Bermuda, all accommodations have private balconies, marble bathrooms, and walk-in closets. Expect elegant British colonial decor with a splash of the tropics throughout. A huge range of bars and restaurants and other services make this a classic resort experience where you can lose yourself and forget your cares for days—or weeks—on end. Families will appreciate the special activities for kids.

Pink Sand Beaches on Bermuda
Located less than two hours from New York and Washington, DC, Bermuda is the perfect long-weekend destination in large part due to its famous pink beaches. The unique pinkish hue actually comes from miniscule creations that call the island’s massive coral reef system home. That doesn’t take away from the beauty of these unique beaches though, my favorite of which is located alongside the Fairmont Southampton resort. This massive hotel enjoys a prime position along the Atlantic Ocean, guaranteeing guests prime access to the pink sand beaches and warm waters for which the island is famous. One of my favorite things to do there though is to wander down the shore and discover quiet coves and hidden beaches I can call my own; at least for the day.

Rejuvenation and Relaxation Times Two
Warm bamboo massage, reflexology, and hot stone massage give couples a luxurious and relaxing treat during their stay in Bermuda. Sip champagne and nibble strawberries at the Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa, where Swedish massage for two is performed in a luxurious couple’s suite. La Serena at The Reefs Resort and Club, named a “Top 25 spa in Atlantic and Caribbean” in Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Poll, has a relaxation room with an ocean view. The day spa at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess, the pink palace overlooking Hamilton harbor, offers facials, deep tissue massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology for men and women. Organic fruits, exotic spices, and rose petals make this a fragrant and luxurious experience.
