Sheltered from the open sea by a handful of smaller islands and barrier reefs, Virgin Gorda’s North Sound is one of the most appealing places in the BVI to drop anchor for a day—or a week. Resorts here cater to the sailing set, many only accessible by boat. One family-friendly favorite, the Bitter End Yacht Club, is set on 75 lush acres and a mile of shoreline with three private beaches. The property features several restaurants and a collection of sustainably built cottages, each with a private balcony; its crown jewel is the marina and watersports center, one of the largest in the Caribbean. Guests can take advantage of yacht club-worthy amenities, including complimentary daytrips and snorkeling excursions; sunset sails; and unlimited use of the resort’s Club Fleet of boats and watersports vessels.
