Man with Rastacap

One of the things we enjoyed most about our trip to St. Lucia was how colorful we found it! From the brightly-painted houses to the rastacaps some men wore, it was a fascinating mix of style and color. This particular gentlemen was outside the Super J supermarket that was about eight minute walk up the road from our resort. He was standing near the sweet table outside it and agreed to be a photo subject for me. Rastacaps are usually crocheted, and generally worn by Rastafarians. Many men wearing them have long dreadlocks, but not all of them. Apparently, they can be worn for fashion, convenience, socio-political statements, and a number of other reasons. I just thought the combination of his strongly-defined face, with the bright cap made for a great portrait!
