Mon - Fri 8am - 4:30pm
EsmeraldasIf you continue to the north along the coast, you’ll eventually reach Esmeraldas, located on the country’s border with Colombia. Travelers who arrive here will find some of the country’s most beautiful beaches and some of the tallest mangroves in the world along with virgin forests.
A unique aspect of Esmeralda is that it’s home to the largest Afro-Ecuadorian community in the country, which traces its roots back to a stranded slave ship from 1553, bound from Panama to Peru. For travelers today, it offers a unique cultural and gastronomic experience, with local dishes featuring shrimp, crab, and lobsters.
