Engelszell Abbey is a Trappist monastery, the only one in Austria. It is located near Engelhartszell, by the Danube river. The Abbey was founded in 1293, built in Rococo style. In May 2012, the International Trappist Association approved Engelszell to be the 8th producer of Trappist beer. Apart from beer, they commercialize cheese and chocolate, both made with the beer, and different types of schnaps.
