'Ene'io Botanical Garden
Founded by Tonga's former Assistant Director of Agriculture Haniteli Fa'anunu to preserve Tonga's diverse flora and fauna, these gorgeous nine-hectare (22-acre) gardens feature over 500 plant varieties and 150 plant families. Fa'anunu himself often runs insightful tours that take in cultural aspects, too. There’s an ocean-facing café-restaurant here specializing in fresh fish and local dishes, and a gift shop that sells handicrafts and local culinary products. Nearby 'Ene'io Beach is a great spot for snorkeling and swimming, making this a great day-trip option.
