In summer 2017, the New York cocktail staple, Employees Only, opened its doors in sunny Miami Beach. Housed at the new Washington Park Hotel, the speakeasy restaurant appears like an ocean-inspired cottage from the exterior but welcomes you into the dark prohibition era dining room upon entry.
Known for inventive and innovative cocktails, the sprawling bar is worth visiting first. The Miami location serves the New York classics, including the Billionaire Cocktail, but also some local favorites, including the Thunder in Paradise. The smooth libation is a combination of Diplomatico Mantuano Rum and Sandeman Armada Sherry with fresh lime juice, house-made orgeat and coconut.
The menu plays tribute to South Beach as well, with locally inspired entrees such as the spicy smothered rock shrimp, red snapper with mussels, kale with fennel, and chicken schnitzel with sour cream mashed potatoes with red cabbage slaw.
New York transplants will not be disappointed as the bars signature late-night menu of chicken soup, bone marrow poppers and tuna tar tar are still on the menu.
Employees Only Miami is the perfect combination of tropical vibes with New York style. The dining room opens at 7 p.m. and the party goes late into the next morning.
