Pause Frequently for Tea
Some of the most enjoyable memories we have from our 12 day trip to Istanbul were the pauses that we made - in the most random places - to take it all in, rest our weary-walking feet, have a cup of tea and watch the world go by. We had the best experiences in cafes that were tucked into unexpected locations (back alleys, mid-markets, and in the depths of the grand bazaar) so I encourage you to do the same. Order the apple, the traditional, add sugar, and always people watch, imprinting the iconic image of Turkish saucers in your mind, with love.
Lamb intestines on a spit
What a delicious sandwich! I know it sounds a little weird, but this was so flavorful and juicy, much more so than the dönor kebap you can find on every corner.
