Emberá Village

Panama

You can see a different side of Panama, far from the glittering skyscrapers of Panama City or the engineering wonder of the canal, when you spend a day visiting an Emberá village in Chagres National Park. Members of this indigenous tribe offer visitors a presentation about their history, culture and music, along with lessons on how they use the plants found in the rain forest where they live. The villagers then typically serve a lunch of fish and plantains and display an assortment of handmade items for sale, including wooden carvings and woven baskets.
