Juneteenth in Houston
Houston is home to one of the oldest Juneteenth festivities in the region--over 140 years old, to be exact. Parades, youth festivals, food vendors, church choirs, arts and crafts exhibits and many other attractions are all on vivid display at Emancipation Park. The Miller Outdoor Theatre also traditionally presents free concerts featuring Gulf Coast-based African American performers, a reminder that blues and jazz music have traditionally been an important part of Juneteenth events all over Texas.
