Elbow Cay, Bahamas
Build in 1862 this red and white striped light house is one of only two remaining kerosene-fueled lighthouses in the world that can be seen 23 nautical miles away. It is manually operated and has to be hand cranked every few hours to maintain the flashing sequence. It provided an excellent point of reference as a first time sailor in the Abacos corridor in the Bahamas.
