There is a loving, caring children’s home in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. When a dentist friend of mine was going with a health team he asked me to go along. While I could not do the medical work and know very little Spanish, I could be a useful volunteer to see that the children got to their dental, eye, ear and pediatric screenings on time. What a joy to get to know those kids! Just LOOK at that face!
The kids in this children’s home are orphans, or abandoned, or there just because some situation in their own family dictated that they be raised and cared for elsewhere. And cared for they are! The couple who started this amazing place are so devoted. And the children thrive.
If you have the time and inclination to volunteer where it can really make a difference in the lives of children....and change your own life in the process, I would suggest investigating El Refugio Children’s Home in Honduras.
