El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historic Monument

Take Part in The Blessing of the Animals
Set along the colorful and historic Olvera Street in Downtown Los Angeles, the Blessing of the Animals happens on the Saturday before Easter, and has been a tradition since 1930.

Do you have a pet in need of a blessing? If you do-- even if you don't --you should check out all of the animals that take part in this fabulous Easter-time event.

Snakes, cows, birds and hamsters are all represented--many in costume. The Cardinal of Los Angeles, together with LA's mayor, splash holy water on all of our furry friends.

Be sure to visit Olvera Street while you are there to sample some authentic mexican food and listen to some live mariachi bands.
