At El Espolon, it's easy to eat and drink on the cheap. The totopos, freshly fried tortilla chips--are complimentary, as is the red sauce. Add on some pico de gallo, green and brown sauces, plus guacamole and melted queso dip for good measure, and you've got a feast to share. Order a pitcher of Mexican beer on tap, or margaritas, and you're all set.
Of course if you'd rather order off the menu, there's plenty to choose from--the tamales are especially recommended. Also, staff are very good about making changes for customers-example---a seafood and vegetable quesadilla isn't on the menu, but if you ask for one (like I did), they'll make it up to order with a minimum of fuss.
