Golfers can spend a week in the Riviera Maya and try a different course each day with seven created by some of the world’s leading designers. Legendary golfer Greg Norman laid out the El Camaleón Mayakobá course. It offers ocean views from many holes, while the incorporation of mangrove wetlands and even cenotes create unusual challenges for players. It’s not surprising that it’s the only course in Latin America to have hosted a PGA event. The Iberostar Playa Paraíso Golf Club, designed by P.B. Dye, is another of the Riviera Maya’s celebrated courses. Here much of the jungle was kept intact, creating an especially challenging course; even if you struggle making a shot, you’ll be cooled by ocean breezes. The Riviera Maya has five other courses waiting for you to tee off: Grand Coral Golf Riviera Maya, Hard Rock Golf Club Riviera Maya, Puerto Aventuras Golf & Racquet Club, Riviera Maya Golf Club at Playacar, and Vidanta Golf Riviera Maya (El Manglar).
