Explore 3 centuries of Barcelona history underneath a 19th century marketplace
The ruins of the Barcelona that suffered the seige of 1714 lay buried underneath the cast-iron 19th century Born Market for centuries. WIth the opening of El Born Centre Cultural, visitors can explore the beautiful wrought iron market, examine the ruins that hid below for so many years, and read about this historic span of years in Barcelona's history in English, Spanish and Catalan. The space is open to the public, and a look at the ruins from the market floor is free of charge. Temporary exhibitions require tickets.

The center's gift shop is a great place to buy designs and gifts made in Barcelona and the rest of Catalonia. There's even a Jenga-esque castellers game to buy for kids.
