Edificio FOCSA

Calle 17, La Habana, Cuba

Havana’s tallest edifice may seem diminutive if you live or spend a lot of time in other big cities, but when it opened in 1956, the 39-story FOCSA Building was a sensation, a marvel of construction and technology that heralded a building boom in the Cuban capital. Today, it continues to attract attention because of its restaurant and observatory on the 33rd floor. You don’t have to dine at the restaurant or belly up to its bar to enjoy the sweeping city-to-sea view; you can ride the elevator straight up to the 33rd floor and walk around the restaurant, taking in the scene through floor-to-ceiling windows.
