Edgewood Golf Course
This 18-hole, par-72 course is frequently lauded by the golf press as one of America’s top 100 courses. You may have seen photographs of its 18th hole, which is surrounded by so much water that it’s practically an island. Built in 1969 by architect George Fazio and his nephew Tom Fazio in 1969, the course hosts the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship every July, when a host of actors, professional athletes, and other celebrities pair up to raise charity money. Charles Barkley, Michael Jordan, and John Elway are frequent contestants. A round here is not cheap—figure on paying about $250 to play 18 holes from June to September, but look for special deals in the spring and fall. Even if you don't play, tag along with someone who does and go hang out and enjoy the lake and course views at Edgewood's Brooks Bar and Deck.
