Eden Roc Miami Beach Combines Art Deco Charm with New Contemporary SuitesAs a Miami Beach local, there are a lot of perks. One of the biggest is that I have some of the world's most beautiful hotels at my disposal. For my birthday we usually go out of town, but this year I decided to soak up some sun a little closer to home and stay at a hotel located less than a mile from my house - a true staycation.
We chose the Eden Roc Miami Beach, it's a local icon that just went through a $250 million in renovation. We loved the idea of staying somewhere old and new with a Mad-Men era bar downstairs and transformed guestrooms that really stole the show. We were lucky enough to get a corner suite, which had sprawling floor-to-ceiling windows, a balcony and views of the Atlantic, the intracoastal and the city. The rooms were large with a couch facing the view, perfect for my early morning coffee.
The rooms had a nude palate, very spa like with natural wood toned furnishings and soft colors that paired with red and brass accents add an element of Miami glamour to the space. It was quite a windy weekend, so we spent a lot of time reading in our suite, which had beautiful pieces from Saatchi Art, the world’s leading online gallery featuring a selection of works inspired by Miami’s rich art deco history and sophisticated beach aesthetic. We curled up on our balcony for lunch with hooded jersey robes and flip flops, which made for the cutest Instagram post to share with family and friends.
We headed to the bar downstairs prior to dinner which was also recently renovated by interior designer David Rockwell. As a Miami Beach local, the celebrated 16-seat bar by Morris Lapidus is the first thing that comes to mind when referring to the Eden Roc Miami Beach. We are big fans of Mid-century design, so we stayed for three martinis and admired the old and new. It's a Miami gem that never seems to go out of style.
The next morning we headed to the spa, which has recently rebranded to Esencia Wellness. The reinvigorated facility includes the 22,000 sq. ft. Escencia Spa featuring 18 treatment cabins, a spa relaxation room and Eden Roc signature treatments such as the “Rocks, Not Diamonds” volcanic massage, “Mommy-2-be” prenatal treatments and the “Keep Calm” aromatherapy massage. The property has a partnership with Nobu Hotels, and we chose the customizable Nobu massage treatment, which begins with a theraputic foot treatment.
The scenic relaxation rooms boats a rustic fireplace with views of the ocean and plush seating. We concluded our weekend away with a champagne toast by the fire. The Eden Roc Miami Beach has other plans to upgrade, including an exclusive Nobu pool, outdoor food truck park and farm-to-table restaurant.
