Thank heavens Drew Curren studied abroad in Tuscany: that’s where this highly respected chef, Hyde Park Culinary Institute of America graduate, and Bravo "Top Chef" competitor first fell in love with food. Curren had wanted to be a vet—but Italy changed all that. Today, he is the visionary behind four popular Austin eateries. Easy Tiger Bake Shop & Beer Garden re-kitted an historic building on 6th Street, turning it into a bakery upstairs and a redefined Munich-style beer garden below. Arro is a chic French bistro, and 24 Diner, an industrial chic haven, plays up all things American—but with a twist (think a bacon, avocado, hand-ground brisket burger, layered with charred poblanos and smoked aioli.) His newest, Italica, turns out the Italian tastes he learned to love in Tuscany.
