At the far eastern end of the island of Maui, along the Hana Highway, there is a path that leads to the famous Red Sand Beach. Along the way, you must cross over a rocky beach where you will find this view of the Pacific Ocean pounding the coast. Our destination was what we had read about, and what we wanted to see. But, to be presented with this sight along the way, was truly a joy. We had to stop and soak in the moment. The lush greenery in the distance, the amazing blue water, and the roar of wind and waves. This wasn't one of your typical white sand beaches filled with sunbathers...this was Hawaiian. It was raw and untamed, but perfectly beautiful.
