Greasy English Breakie
Drank a bit too much the night before? Shuffle on over to the family-run (since 1900!) E Pellicci on Bethnal Green Road in East London. The English-Italian greasy spoon will satisfy your every hangover need. You can go for the classic English breakfast (fried bread, egg, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes) or fill up by sating your sauce-cravings with a large dish of tortolini. Whatever you choose, expect a full, busy room and a cast of characters you won't soon forget. Tables are communal so if you go solo as I did, expect to share your dining experience with other visitors and locals alike. But that's part of the fun! And despite there often being a queue, they won't rush you either. This is the type of place regulars come in, order their meal, eat it, and head out with a "See ya tomorrow, yea?" from "Mama Maria" who's been running the kitchen since 1961. And surely, she will.
