A Stunning Architectural Marvel of a Hotel in Katmandu
This hotel is a result of one mans personal passion. As modernity encroached upon Nepal, Mr. Dwarika, a private business man collected wooden artifacts, pillars, windows, etc. from temples, homes, and buildings being demolished in the interest of 'advancement'.
The Dwarika's hotel remains family owned and is built around an extensive collection of artefacts from the 13th century onwards, and the buildings and courtyards house some of Nepal’s best craftsmanship – capturing the beauty and spirit of an ancient city. The amalgamation of Nepal’s heritage with its longstanding tradition of hospitality makes The Dwarika’s Hotel in Kathmandu an intimate experience of a refined Nepali lifestyle.
The wood craft workshop is the place to see on property (you have to ask) and also stay in the original main building. Stunning!
