There are two awesome donut experiences you should have while you’re at or near the Queen Victoria Markets in Melbourne. The first is a large white donut van called The American Doughnut Kitchen which is normally parked in the middle street section of the markets. It’s hard to miss – the smell of hot sugar and the long queue should serve as good clues.
The second is more hidden, but only about 200 metres away, at Doughboys (456 Queens Street, Melbourne). It is a tiny little shop hidden upstairs and kind of inside a place called Fancy Hanks. The donuts there are dipped to order in front of you and come in kick-ass flavours like Banana Cream Pie, Earl Grey and Peanut Butter & Jelly. Don’t ask, just eat!
