Dongdaemun Design Plaza
A sleek structure of curving, silver walls looks like an alien spaceship landed in the middle of Seoul. Welcome to Dongdaemun Design Plaza, lovingly nicknamed “DDP.” Completed in 2014, This neo-futuristic culture complex was designed by the famous, late architect, Zaha Hadid. The construction set many new standards of innovation – the building has no straight lines or right angles. The complex and surrounding park provide a space where new ideas can be exchanged through exhibitions, pop-up shops, and conferences. It’s also the site where Seoul Fashion Week takes place. Visit DDP at night for a magical experience: the building is illuminated in a patchwork display and the field behind Exhibition Hall is aglow with over 25,000 LED-lit white roses.
