It's impossible not to ooh and ahh when seeing a dolphin break the water's surface and perhaps bust out a few flips and turns in the air. And happily, such an experience is a relatively common one along The Beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel, where the animals can be seen all year long leaping in the wake of a boat or hunting for fish offshore. Dolphins enjoy surfing, and a boat's wake is the perfect platform for the animals to get a fun and free ride. When you spot a particularly large vessel getting ready to leave a no-wake zone, train your eyes toward the stern for what just might be a dolphin performance better than anything a theme park could offer. There are various dolphin cruises offered where you're virtually guaranteed to see the animals. But your chances of spotting them from the area's beaches are excellent, too.
