Thanks to its peninsular setting, Qatar has had a long nautical history. For centuries, traditional wooden boats called dhows have plied the waters of the Persian Gulf; it’s still a popular way to see Doha from a different vantage point. Board a dhow from the Corniche promenade for a half- or full-day trip cruising through the bay, sailing around Palm Tree Island and Al Safliya before stopping to swim and snorkel. And bring a healthy appetite along for the ride—many dhow tours include lunch or dinner.
