Demachiyanagi Station

Turtle-hopping across the Kamo River
Kyoto's Kamo River and its banks are alive with activity when the weather is nice. Even though there are plenty of bridges with pedestrian access to get from one side to the other, take a more exciting route by hopping across river stones shaped like turtles and birds. One set of the stones can be found on the north side of the Demachiyanagi Bridge. If you're not in walking distance, take the subway to Demachiyanagi Station, then ask the station master for the station's eki stamp, which features the turtle-shaped stones in the river.
