La Plaza del Chorro (Waterfall Plaza) is a public washing area in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. A natural spring feeds the two troughs that run past concrete wash basins. Since the 1800s, women have brought their family laundry to this place. It was built so that many women at once could visit, wash, and have a social time as well as getting to their chores. The advent of washing machines has changed the use of this famous plaza. Though a few people still come to wash, it is a tourist attraction and a place for artists to display their wares on the weekends.
