When visiting the area, we always make it a point to stop at Dano's Heuriger on the east side of Seneca Lake. It's plain on the outside but has a beautifully modern interior with wonderful views across the narrow lake. But the best reason to go is the interesting, fresh and well-prepared food, which ranges from traditional Austrian spreads to luscious desserts. In between are choices like a celery root remoulade - which I always order - and main meals drawn from local producers. The wine list leans heavily on local wineries, with an Austrian gruner veltliner the house option. You can't get any fresher than the herbs Dano grows all around the property, including in the herb garden just off the kitchen. Grab 'n' go goodness!
