Set aside a solid chunk of your day to explore all Daitokuji has to offer. The temple property has multiple entrances and is about the size of a city block. There are several buildings and gardens open to the public, regularly scheduled Buddhist services, and additional tours available for small fees. Meandering through Daitokuji takes a long time when you're paying attention to details such as the decorative text on individual shingles, the small stone bridges going over tiny streams, the carefully manicured flora, and the intricate shrine carvings.
