Recessed lighting, blond wood, rock accents and perforated screens strike the right balance between contemporary and cozy.
Choose from tatami rooms, table seating and a low-slung bar overlooking the kitchen.
I sat at the bar that provides a view of the happenings in the dining room. Watching the servers balancing trays laden with plates and glassware while scurrying down hallways and up steps handicapped by socks and slipper shoes that have to be taken off/put on every time they enter or leave a tatami room was quite entertaining. As was observing the variety of patrons.
A few Yebisu drafts, an entree-sized tofu/avocado/pine nut salad and two hours of internet later and I was completely satiated. Returned the next night.
