Mt. Vernon is famous for it's expansive, vivid tulip fields that make their debut in April each year. The hidden gem often overlooked is the blooming of the daffodils one month earlier.
Drive around the backroads to see multiple fields blooming bright yellows and oranges. Often there are flocks of swans and snow geese in the wetlands of Skagit Valley. Park your car and ask to walk around and photograph these bright signs of spring. Bouquets are available at produce stands along the roadside and local grocers.
The Bloom Map is a great way to see where and what is blooming in Mt. Vernon and updates are made often on their Facebook page.
