If Frenchmen Street were a republic, D.B.A. would be the capital. It’s an inviting music venue built around a compact beadboard music hall with low stage—the place feels as if you might find a bayou out the back door. It’s also noted for its rotation of excellent area musicians (along with the occasional traveling band) that sets the dance floor afire nightly. This is not a fancy-mixed-drink kind of place: Choose from the extensive selection of beers (mostly bottled) or an impressive chalkboard list of spirits (bourbons and rums are well represented). With its cordial atmosphere and lack of gloss and pretense, it’s the kind of place that appeals to locals and visitors alike.

Great place for live music and drinks right on Frenchman St. Tons on tap, wine galore and live music all throughout the week. Treme Brass Band on Mondays are definitely worth gettin' off the couch for.
