Cuisine of Macedonia
The origins of the popular "Turli tava" dish date back from the Ottoman times, and it was adopted in Macedonia and the other parts of the Balkans during the rule of the Ottomans. The word "turli" in Turkish means "mixed up". This dish contains mixture of meat (small pieces of pork,lamb and beef) and vegetables (tomatoes,peppers,onion,garlic,patatoes) and various spices.
