India is definitely very crowded in most places, so it's strange to be in a sizable city and feel like you're in a small town. When I was staying with a host family in Cuddalore, India I felt as though this city could be a rural town even though it most definitely is not!
What I loved most about being in Cuddalore was sneaking away from my school group and exploring the town with my roommate. During this trip we were supposed to stay in large groups so we wouldn't get lost. What fun is it following the rules?
The morning my roommate and I set out exploring the small town, we did get a little lost, but we saw some amazing things and talked to some amazing people. Best of all, everyone in the area knew where the rotary house was, so when we asked how to get back we were given scooter rides by some friendly guys.
Yes, the sites in Delhi, Chennai, and Agra are jaw dropping, but I felt like I really saw India when I got lost in Cuddalore.
