One of the most beautiful hikes I've experienced is the one from Aspen to Crested Butte, Colorado. The hike, which takes you from the Aspen side over the West Maroon Pass into Crested Butte, will take you about 6 hours, is 13 miles and about 1,500 feet in elevation. It's not too difficult of a hike, especially when you are surrounded by incredible beauty and scenery, glistening lakes, and all shades of green. Go in August, which is the best time to go. The snow is mostly melted by then, and the wildflowers are all in bloom. You'll see so many white and lavender Rocky Mountain Columbine's, the official flower of the State of Colorado.
