Crans-Montana
Offering everything from mountain biking and road cycling to BMX jumps and leisurely rides, Crans-Montana ticks all the boxes for free-wheeling Alpine activities. The Swiss municipality, located in the region of Valais, features a network of more than 120 miles of trails against a jagged, mountain-peaked backdrop, luring Spandex-clad riders from all over Europe. Of particular interest are two downhill mountain bike tracks that run through challenging forest trails, banked turns, jumps, and root sections. Beginners should head to the Alpine Pastures blue trail, but expert riders can tackle the Chetzeron advanced track, which was featured in the Swiss IXS Cup in 2005.
