Coihaique Coyhaique Chile

Coihaique is the major city in this part of Chile, the capital of the province of the same name and, with some 50,000 residents, large enough to offer a choice of shopping and dining options. For many travelers it serves mostly as a launching pad for outdoor adventures, but there are some places that justify taking the time to explore the city. The Museo Regional de la Patagonia provides an introduction to the natural and cultural history of the area, while the Plaza de Armas is home to the cathedral and one of Patagonia's best craft fairs. You can shop there for items sourced from sheep ranches in the province including sheepskins, leather crafts and woolen clothes and accessories—great to keep you warm when you visit nearby natural wonders, and of course once you get back home too.
