Pack For A Purpose When Staying At The Courtleigh Hotel
It's always nice to give back to local communities when traveling overseas. Even nicer when great hotels like the Courtleigh Hotel in Kingston makes it easy. While booking a reservation for a recent stay there, I noticed that the Courtleigh is partnering with Pack For A Purpose, a U.S.-based nonprofit on a mission to positively impact communities around the world by helping travelers take meaningful contributions to the destinations they visit. The Courtleigh's Pack For A Purpose program benefits such worthwhile Jamaican charities as Missionaries For The Poor, Open Arms Development Center, The Marie Atkins Shelter, and the Alpha Boys' Institute. Alpha Boys was of particular interest to me. The institute, which has been in operation since 1880, is best-known for producing such notable Jamaican music stars as Yellowman, The Skatallites, Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace. Giving back to Alpha Boys felt like making an investment in the future of Jamaican music, something that made my trip to
Jamaica all the more special.
