Court TheatreSituated in the city’s Hyde Park neighborhood, this theater opened in 1955 and has been appealing to crowds near and far ever since for its diverse programming and community involvement. Each season focuses on five productions—a range that varies drastically, from familiar plays (My Fair Lady) to less familiar ones (Pericles) to revivals from the African American theatrical canon and debuts of destined-to-be modern classics. Its location on the University of Chicago is a plus, too—much of the work here is informed by the school’s mission, resources, and students.
